Our Team

We pride ourselves on having the best team – high achievers who are fun, motivated and always smiling. Your little ones are in good hands as the practitioners are 100% focused on ensuring they have the best care, attention, learning opportunities and fun every day. We believe in ‘child initiated’ play and children have the opportunity of being able to choose how they want to learn, alongside structured, age appropriate activities planned for them by their teachers.

Our Senior Leadership Team are passionate in their roles to help manage and support each setting efficiently.

Julie Mounfield

Chief Executive
Julie shapes the earliest stages of learning and development for 350+ children across the three Garrison settings. She does this by reinforcing her brilliant team of managers, deputy managers, room leaders and staff in partnership with parents, the military community and the civilian local authorities. Her background in the Military, early years education at NNEB and Degree level gives her a unique perspective of how the Pre-Schools can support each child’s earliest learning experience.

Julie has been a trustee of the Charity that funds the Garrison Pre-Schools as well as a Governor position at the Wavell School. She firmly believes that the formative experience of a fun and nurturing learning environment at the earliest years, has a positive impact on a child’s future attitude to learning.

Carly Jones

 Queen Marys Day Nursery Manager
"I have worked in childcare for more than 20 years. After completing my Diploma in Nursery Nursing back in 2001, I have been in an array of different settings from day nurseries to pre-schools, after school clubs and even a children’s activity centre in France.
I thoroughly enjoy all the different aspects of childcare, from getting messy and creative in messy play, to running around role playing in a game but what I love most is reading books with the children - making those stories come alive for them!
I feel truly honoured to be trusted with your child and being able to play a small part in their childhood is a huge reward."

Debbie Barrie

Toye Box Early Years Centre Manager
"I joined the Toye Box team at the beginning of 2022 as Deputy Manager - my daughter was attending the pre-school at the time and when the position came up it felt too good to be true – I already loved the setting as a parent and now I was able to be involved in the magic from the inside!

There is a saying “never work with animals or children” – I must have missed the memo as it’s all I have ever done! I ran my own dog walking business before having my daughter and I have always aspired to be involved with children, whether this be through sports coaching, working in an after school club, being a 1:1 support assistant, nannying for various families and now as Manager at the wonderful Toye Box.

I am extremely passionate about Toye Box and so proud of the fantastic team we have here, please know we are always here for you, our door is always open and no question is a daft question."

Katy Gumbrell

Clocktower Pre-School Manager
"I first started my childcare journey studying childcare at college and have now been working in childcare for the past 20 years. I've worked my way through from practitioner to Room Leader to Deputy and now my goal of becoming a Manager of a setting has come true.
Being a military wife, I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work in nurseries all around the UK and have also spent time as a one-to-one support for a child in Germany!
I am also a mother of 3 children, so I understand how important early learning is for your little ones and I love having a helping hand in their growth and development."

Sarah Huggins

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Support
"I am a military wife and mother of two, I have worked in childcare and education for over 20 years and have been able to work all over the world, working as an English teacher, working in schools, childminding and youth co-ordinator. I also support with respite care for disadvantaged families.
The best and most important part of my role as SEND Support is supporting parents, children and staff to be able to provide the best possible outcomes for all children. Having a child with additional needs myself, I understand the effects that it has on everyone involved in the child’s life. Early intervention makes a real difference, by playing even a small part in your children's journeys to finding themselves and helping them reach their highest potential - whatever that may look like - is the reason I love to be in early years."
