Trustees

We pride ourselves on having the best team – high achievers who are fun, motivated and always smiling, our Board of Trustees are no exception! We have members from all different backgrounds, military and civilian who are passionate in their roles to help support the organisation and each setting efficiently.

Meet our Trustees....

Darren (Paddy) Nicholl

Co-Chair of Trustees
Darren has been a Trustee with Aldershot Pre-Schools group for 2 years, working closely with Julie and the staff to ensure our families get the best childcare that we can possibly offer.
Darren is part of the Adjutant Generals Corps Army and has been working in Finance and HR for more than 25 years. His role has taken him all over the world, most recently, Darren was assigned to 11 SFA Brigade here in Aldershot as a Finance Auditor. This involved visiting Military Units in the South East of England and auditing policy and financial procedures.

"I very much a people person and very approachable. I am keen to ensure all families - both military and civilian are taken care of. Hence my role on the board of trustees is to assist Julie and the teams with all staffing, policy, and procedural elements.
If you see me a round do come over and say hello and introduce yourself and I promise to make you laugh (that’s if you can understand my accent)."

Gerry Bell

Co-Chair of Trustees
Gerry has recently joined as Trustee with Aldershot Garrison Pre-Schools, and looks forward to working together with the staff and families.
Gerry has worked for the MOD (Ministry of Defence) for more than 40 years. She has had many varied roles, however for the last 20 years has remained in the Infrastructure/Contract area of expertise.

“With my experience of working with the MOD and having been part of a service family myself, I look forward to being able to contribute to the provision of a happy place for all the children and families. I have previously been an active member of my daughters School Parents Association, and am a grandparent to two energetic boys, so they keep my outlook young and I feel they have introduced me to the modern day schooling system”

David Betts

Trustee
"I have been working as part of the Aldershot Garrison Chaplaincy Team for almost 30 years and my work includes such things as school assemblies, various Mums and Toddler groups, after school clubs, RE lessons, Café Church, various one off projects around the Garrison, 1:1 work in some of the Garrison Schools, Pre-School assemblies, “Who Let The Dads Out” dads and toddler groups, and if you happen to notice little knitted angels around the community at Christmas time, well, that’s me too.
I am very much a people person and have a heart for looking after families in the military community. Hence my role on the board of trustees is very much pastoral in nature.
As part of the Garrison Chaplaincy Team I visit each of the Pre-school settings every Friday for a “Bible Story Time” and I love getting to know the children through these regular visits.
I have a number of passions, one being drumming…I play the drums as often as I can. I also love photography and will not be too far away from my camera.

If you see me around the Pre-schools or Garrison, please do come over and introduce yourself."

Sarah Magee

Trustee
"I have spent more than 10 years as a Youth and Community Worker for the Army Welfare Services. I have a wealth of experience of military life and joined as a trustee in March 2020 to support the Aldershot Garrison Pre-School Settings.
I have two children and a crazy beagle called Cooper, I enjoy walking, cycling and reading.
My passion is working with young people and creating opportunities to support their development. As a Senior Community Development Worker, I am responsible for a diverse team that support the local military communities. We establish creative and progressive programs in collaboration with communities and young people focusing on the development of social education programs and generic activities that are responsive to local needs.
We create and provide opportunities for young people, ensuring they are at the centre of all decision making."
